2 Thessalonians 3:10 is clear in emphasizing that Christians must work for their food:
It is a command of the New Testament that those who do not work should not eat.
It is important for Christians to understand that Christians are commanded to work. In other words, a Christian should not just pray for food and wait for food, a Christian must work in order to eat. Thus, the church should discourage free food programs, such as SNAP (food stamp) for those able bodies who can work.
Christian politicians should vote against free money for able bodies who do not work, and Christians should vote against politicians who want to promote giving free government money to people who can work.
America’s Christians should focus on bringing jobs back to America and to making sure American companies do not take jobs out of America to other countries.
It is important for Christian parents to teach their children explicitly and regularly that they must work in order to eat. This is a command of the New Testament.
Parents should tell their children not to drink alcohol or party. Christian parents should tell their children to study hard and avoid wasting time and doing things that displease God.
American students who think that college is for partying will not be prepared for the work place. Too many parties in America’s colleges are the reason why America’s college graduates are irresponsible and unemployed and often become alcohol-dependent (or even alcoholics).
Recent news about drinking parties and deaths from drinking on college campuses show what is socially wrong in America. Drinking in college leads to immorality, irresponsibility, and possible injury and death from drinking.
Christian parents should guide their children to jobs that will fully support them and their family in the future.
It is important for Christian parents to prepare their children for jobs that will support them for the rest of their life. Churches must preach the value of work as St. Paul did, and so should Christian parents. “Let him who will not work, let him not eat!”
Christian churches should cut their food programs for the poor and focus on evangelization and Christianization and guiding people to work. Christian churches should focus on teaching that it is unethical for American companies to take jobs out of America, as Apple is doing to create iPhones in India, rather than in the USA, where many jobs are needed.
One wise direction for Christian children is to go into teaching in an elementary school. Average starting salary for teachers range from around $40,000 to $50,000 (in some states, more!). This means that a Christian child who starts to work after college at the age 22 is guaranteed that starting pay with 2 month summer vacation, 2 week Christmas Vacation, and 1 week Easter Vacation. And there is salary increase of around $2,000, every year.
Christian parents have a duty to direct their children’s life, so that they will not drink alcohol, do drugs, go to parties that lead to sin.
Christian parents must make sure that their children are doing their homework, getting good grades, going to college and to gainful employment that will financially support them and their family for the rest of their life.
There is great demand for teachers in all 50 states. If your child becomes a teacher, your child is guaranteed a job as a teacher with a starting salary of around $40,000 to $50,000 (or more in some states!) at the age of 22.
Help your child to have job security by encouraging your child to go into elementary school teaching.
There is no other job that has 100% guaranteed employment in all 50 states, with starting pay at over $40,000, with around 3 months of vacation (every year!) at the age of 22. Your guiding your child to becoming a teacher may be the greatest earthly gift you can give to your child.
