Movies sometimes show characters using Bible passages in justifying violence. Is violence ever justified?
There were people living in Jericho. But according to the Bible, God led the Israelites to destroy Jericho (and kill everyone in the city, except for the prostitute who helped them spy on the city), so that the Israelites could (un)rightfully take what did not belong to them and live there.
God commanded Israelites to trespass on other people’s property, murder the legitimate title (deed) owners of the land, and live in their place.
Is this not violence?
But God does command violence. This is evident from Genesis to the Book of Revelations in the New Testament.
Christian history is filled with violence inflicted to advance the Gospel or defend Bible morality.
In essence, violence is a very important part of Christianity. Both the Bible and history prove this to be an absolute truth.
